Laboratory5 is a story of imagination, resilience, and futures made real. Founded by artist, writer, and futurist Cyndi Coon, it began as a concept for creation, exploration and experimentation. The name carries its own story: “Laboratory” honors curiosity and discovery, while “5” remembers a fierce dog with five brown spots, who wandered into Coon’s life in graduate school - a spirited reminder that obstacles will come, but adaptation, growth, and reinvention are always possible. 

From the mountains of northern New Mexico, Laboratory5 has evolved into a creative ecosystem of labs, studios, trainings, projects, and publishing - where data, science, storytelling, and imagination come together to create outcomes for good.
